TEMPLE, Ga. — Students at Carroll County School System’s Temple High School will remember Rashawn Walker during a candlelight vigil on the school’s football field on Tuesday night.
Walker was killed on Monday when the school bus he was riding hit a ditch and toppled over after the driver lost control of the vehicle. Twelve other students were hurt, 11Alive reports.
In a letter to parents and students on Tuesday, Temple High School Principal Karen Suddeth offered her condolences to those affected by the accident.
“This is a very sad time for Temple High School because several students were injured in the accident,” Suddeth wrote. “While all students received immediate medical attention for their injuries and were transported to area hospitals, one student was fatally injured. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of all individuals involved in this unfortunate accident.”
Temple High School faculty and staff members and other employees of Carroll County Schools will reportedly be available at Temple High School to provide grief counseling and support as needed.
Walker was a senior and aspiring graphic designer, according to 11Alive.
