VIDEO: School bus crashes into diner during Ind. tornado
Onboard footage shows the vehicle being lifted into the air before it was flung into a diner during a tornado in Henryville last month. In the video, driver Angel Perry can be heard providing instructions to students on board and safely evacuating them before the tornado hits the bus.
HENRYVILLE, Ind. — Onboard bus surveillance video has emerged that shows a school bus being lifted into the air before it was flung into a diner during a powerful tornado here last month, ABC News reports.
The bus was one of several belonging to West Clark Community Schools that was damaged during the tornado, as SBFpreviously reported.
Driver Angel Perry was transporting 11 children on the bus and was three miles from a school when she heard tornado warnings over the radio.
In the video, Perry can be heard telling the students that they’re going back to the school and to cover their heads and move to the middle of the bus as the tornado approaches. Once they arrive at the school, she provides instructions to get them safely in the building.
