LATHAM, N.Y. — School transportation software provider VersaTrans Solutions was acquired by Dallas-based Tyler Technologies.
VersaTrans officials said that the company would remain headquartered in Latham, N.Y., and that day-to-day operations would remain the same.
“This is a truly exciting development for VersaTrans’ clients and employees,” said Douglas Hamlin, president and CEO of VersaTrans. “In Tyler, we have found a company that shares not only our technology vision, but also the values and beliefs that have made VersaTrans a unique and successful company.”
Tyler also acquired Olympia Computing Co. Inc., which provides student information systems under the brand name Schoolmaster for such functions as grading, attendance, scheduling and admissions.
“Tyler is committed to expanding our solid and growing presence in the school market, and these companies provide us with subject matter expertise and management strength to help us achieve our goals,” said John Marr Jr., Tyler’s president and CEO.
The combined purchase price for VersaTrans and Olympia was approximately $16 million. The two companies had combined revenues of approximately $13 million in 2007.
