School transportation software supplier TransTraks has agreed to develop a new membership program for the California Association of School Transportation Officials (CASTO).

Officials said that the enhancements will better serve CASTO’s thousands of new and active members, enabling the association to process membership applications in a timely, efficient and accurate time frame.

The CASTO board of directors asked TransTraks to come up with a new way to do business for its membership process. TransTraks agreed to develop a new membership program that will be hosted on the company's cloud service. Company officials said that this will be a safe and proprietary site that will ensure privacy for CASTO's members.

TransTraks owners Greg and Donna Marvel come from a long history of transportation and school district administration in California, and they have been individual members of CASTO since 1979.

"Donna and I have been in school transportation for many years,” Greg Marvel said. “We both love CASTO and school bus yellow and would like to give something back to the industry.”

The new membership program will enable the board of directors to mainstream the membership process and to get more members to sign up for CASTO, officials said.

"Our goal working with CASTO on their membership enhancements is to create and deliver an easy, user-friendly online application process for new transportation personnel and vendors to become members," Marvel said.
