In October, Joshua Hinerman joined Robertson County (Tenn.) Schools as its new supervisor of transportation.
Hinerman previously worked as the director of transportation for Wilson County Board of Education, where he graduated from the Leadership Wilson Class of 2015, and received certification as a child seat technician. Hinerman said he enjoyed his tenure at Wilson County Schools.
After leaving Wilson County Schools at the end of 2014, he worked as a human resources manager with Lowe’s Home Improvement Centers, and as a school bus driver for Maury County Public Schools.
“I enjoyed my time working with Lowe’s and note that it is ranked as one of the top ten happiest corporations to work for in America,” Hinerman said.
While driving school buses and working as a human resources manager, Hinerman also served on the writing committee for the National Congress on School Transportation and as a delegate for the state of Tennessee.
In his new position, Hinerman plans to apply his school transportation knowledge and human resources experience to help the Robertson County Schools transportation department shine, he said.
“I work with a group of amazing professionals in Robertson County, and in the previous school districts I have worked for over the years,” he added. “I look forward to growing with this unique industry.”
Additionally, Hinerman has served as a third party CDL examiner, Smith System defensive driving instructor, and has helped with American Red Cross training for transportation staff members. He also recently earned his certification as a Director of Pupil Transportation with the National Association for Pupil Transportation.
“I want to help folks love the yellow school bus as much as I do, and truly become ‘Yellow School Bus Champions,’” Hinerman added.
