SEARCHA 17-year-old student from New Academy (Pa.) Charter School is riding his school bus when he is shot in the shoulder. He is taken to the hospital in stable condition.
ARLINGTON, Pa. — A 17-year-old student here was hit by a bullet while riding his school bus on Monday, police said.
The Pittsburgh Police Department posted on its Twitter page that officers responded to a local hospital around 6:41 p.m. for a report of a walk-in gunshot victim.
The bus driver, who was transporting students from New Academy Charter School, told police that she had heard two to three gun shots, and that the 17-year-old male student on the bus yelled that he had been shot in the shoulder. Two other students on the bus were not injured, police said.
Chris Togneri, a spokesman from the Pittsburgh Police Department, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the gunfire apparently came from outside the bus, and that the student who was shot is in stable condition.
