Teen accused of knocking out school bus driver
The Louisiana student allegedly punched the driver in the face until she went unconscious. Another student stepped on the brakes and pulled the shifter to stop the bus.
BATON ROUGE, La. — A 15-year-old allegedly beat a school bus driver unconscious while the bus was still moving last week and was arrested, WAFB reports.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely of the Baton Rouge Police Department told the news outlet that multiple witnesses on the bus said the student and driver were arguing and the student punched the bus driver in the face several times until she went unconscious. He added that another student stepped on the brakes and pulled the shifter to stop the bus.
The teenager was charged with battery of a bus operator, aggravated obstruction of a roadway, and second-degree battery, according to WAFB. A representative for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System told the news outlet the student was immediately suspended and has been recommended for expulsion from Christa McAuliffe Superintendent's Academy, an alternative school for students with disciplinary issues.
The bus driver was taken to the hospital immediately afterward and is recovering from her injuries, officials told WAFB.
