LOS ANGELES — Seven Sunrise Elementary School students aboard a school bus on a field trip were splashed by diesel fuel and taken to the hospital as a precaution on Tuesday, CBS Los Angeles reports.
The bus driver pulled over after the fuel line sustained damage and ruptured, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Saul Gomez told the news outlet. Approximately 40 students and two teachers were aboard the bus when the girls were sprayed with fuel from the fuel pump when it malfunctioned, Los Angeles Unified School District officials told CBS Los Angeles.
The girls were taken to the hospital as a precaution, and no other injuries were reported. The remaining students continued on their trip in a replacement bus, district officials told the news outlet.
