Special-needs bus struck by drunken driver
ADELANTO, Calif. — A bus carrying three special-needs children was struck and overturned by a drunken driver in mid-June. The children, who were wearing seat belts, were not seriously injured, and the bus driver was able to carry them off of the bus through the rear emergency exit before authorities arrived. SHERWOOD PARK, Alberta — Seventeen special-needs bus drivers for a local school district quit their jobs in early June. WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A local school district replaced harnesses that were being improperly used to transport special-needs preschoolers after the parent of a 3-year-old passenger pointed out the error.
