ARLINGTON, Wash. — Eight school bus drivers are working as tutors at a local elementary school in between their morning and afternoon routes.
Calling themselves the Transportation Tutors, the drivers are helping children learn to read and spend about an hour a day with the students, according to a story on HeraldNet.com.
In the three weeks since the tutoring program started, driver Darrell Hunt says he has helped one student advance to a new reading level. About 16 kids are working with the tutors.
