MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. — A school bus driver here encourages the students he transports to spend time outdoors and teaches them to fish at a local pond over spring break, WPVI reports.
On Tuesday, dozens of students were tutored on how to catch fish by Gary Kelmer, who has been offering the lessons to students for over 20 years, according to the news source. Kelmer told WPVI that he is passionate about fishing, and he loves passing his knowledge on to the students and getting people “involved in nature.”
A parent of one of the students who came out for the fishing lesson told the news source that “it’s great to get [the students] outside running and they need it.” One participating student told WPVI, "I'd rather go outside and do this than play on my iPad."
