CINCINNATI — A school bus driver and her students were able to help identify a motorist involved in a hit-and-run incident that injured a 15-year-old student here last week, WLWT reports.

Tracy Peoples, who has been driving a school bus for 12 years, told the news source that the student was crossing the street in the crosswalk when a vehicle hit him. Peoples added that she proceeded to honk her horn for the motorist to stop, but the motorist continued driving, and she saw the “fear on the little boy’s face as he fell to the ground.”

Police told WLWT that the motorist, 33-year-old Melvin Green, drove away, and the student was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Green was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license and right of way, according to the news source.

Peoples and the students aboard her bus were credited for providing police the necessary information to arrest Green, who appeared in court on Thursday, WLWT reports. Peoples told the news source that her students took a picture of Green’s car, his license plates, and his face.
