UPPER MAKEFIELD, Pa. — A special-needs school bus crashed into another vehicle here last month after its passenger-side tires went off of the roadway, causing the bus driver to lose control of the bus.
The incident occurred at around 8:15 a.m. on Sept. 16 when the First Student school bus was traveling southbound along Windy Bush Rd. between Street Rd. and Round Hill Rd., accordingPatch.com. As the passenger-side tires of the bus veered off of the roadway, the bus driver lost control, and the bus traversed into the northbound lane, colliding with an oncoming vehicle, the news source reports.
Upper Makefield Township Police Department confirmed in a Facebook post that the bus was carrying two students from Neshaminy School District at the time, but no students were injured. Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene and helped assist in getting the students off the bus, according to a post on Lingohocken Fire Co.’s Facebook page.
The students were later picked up by their parents, while the driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
