NIPOMO, Calif. — A school bus driver here was arrested on Thursday and charged with possession of meth for sale, authorities said.
Members of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit made a traffic stop on a school bus driven by 31-year-old April Annamarie Nunez, an employee of the Lucia Mar Unified School District. No children were on the bus at the time.
During the course of their investigation, narcotics detectives found in Nunez’s personal car a small amount of methamphetamine, a scale and packaging materials, which they said are consistent with the sale of meth. Nunez was reportedly also carrying about $1,200 in cash.
Investigators said they do not believe that Nunez was selling narcotics to children.
A school district official told the Santa Maria Times that no drugs or paraphernalia were found on the bus, and that Nunez had passed a fingerprint check and multiple drug tests during her employment. The district official said that Nunez was placed on administrative leave.
Nunez was booked into the county jail on a charge of possession of methamphetamine for sale.
