HAZELTON, Idaho — Twin Falls Times-News reports that Douglas Transportation Inc., which began transporting students here to and from school 58 years ago, is closing its doors.
The Douglas family, which ran the business for three generations, signed a pact with Oregon-based Western States Bus Services Inc., selling all 12 of its buses and its contract with the school district.
School budget cuts had lowered profit margins for the bus company, and it saw no future in the transportation contract, according to the newspaper.
The business was started in 1955 when George Talley signed an agreement to sell five buses and his contract to M.W. Douglas for $15,500.
