Robert Jacobus, CEO and founder of School Bus Logistics LLC, has been named vendor board representative to the Colorado State Pupil Transportation Association for 2023.

The CSPTA works to improve, promote, and maintain the highest level of safe and efficient transportation for the pupils of the public and private schools in Colorado. Each summer, the organization’s vendor show is held in Pueblo, Colo., and provides attendees with hands-on training, best practices in the industry, networking, and a trade show to learn about the latest offerings of vendors.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to be more involved in CSPTA,” said Jacobus. “Our state has experienced exponential growth in the past decade and the organization has worked diligently to ensure districts are supported and have resources available to transport students during the school year. My role will help to make sure vendors are able to connect with districts and continue the mission of safe and efficient transportation.”

Before founding School Bus Logistics (SBL), Jacobus graduated with a B.A. in geography from State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1997, where he earned minors in planning and in computer mapping. In 2009, he completed a 15-week MBA primer course at DePaul University in Chicago. Jacobus then worked for National Express Corporation, which supports Durham School Services in the United States and Stock Transportation in Canada. While there, he moved from coordinator to director of route logistics. His past routing experience also includes serving first as a training and implementation specialist and then as a regional account manager for Versatrans Solutions, Inc., provider of transportation routing and planning software and services in the K–12 industry.

In 2010, Jacobus founded SBL to bring his knowledge of pupil transportation logistics to school districts and school bus contracting companies who often lack the resources to fully optimize their routing. The team of 15 performs routing tasks for more than 15 school districts in eight states. Their routing software experience and routing operations knowledge to each project in order to create efficient and safe bussing to pupils and their families.

Jacobus is a member of the Colorado State Association of Pupil Transportation (CSPTA), the California Association of School Transportation Officials (CASTO) and the National Association of Pupil Transportation (NAPT). He also holds official Train the Trainer certification from Tyler Technologies in Latham, N.Y.
