HIGH POINT, N.C. — Thomas Built Buses in May will offer the Thomas Built Institute to school bus technicians, a training curriculum designed to complement school district maintenance programs.

“It’s tough enough to inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair bus and chassis systems on school buses from delivery to 20 years old,” said Mike Stotler, service education manager for Thomas Built, “and then you add the challenges of constantly changing technology. The institute offers technicians extensive, hands-on training and first-hand experience in small classes.”

The curriculum includes factory tours, as well as instruction on:

• 2010 emissions and advanced electrical systems

• multiplex, service link and troubleshooting for Type C buses

• electrical and fan drives for Type D buses

• coolant, maintenance and cost savings

• utilizing Websites, resources and wire diagrams

The Thomas Built Institute will be held May 11-14. Early enrollment is recommended, as registration is limited to 100 participants to ensure small class sizes and personal attention.

The training is $250 and includes lunch and ground transportation. Participants will receive a certificate of completion for 28 hours of continuing education.

To register, visit www.thomasbus.com.
