PTSI offers training conference for instructors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Pupil Transportation Safety Institute (PTSI) will hold a training conference for school bus instructors here in the fall.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Pupil Transportation Safety Institute (PTSI) will hold a training conference for school bus instructors here in the fall.

The National Conference for Behind-the-Wheel Trainers and Classroom Instructors, scheduled for Oct. 9-11, will offer interactive, in-depth sessions aimed at building training skills.

The event will explore such topics as how to balance classroom and behind-the-wheel training; conducting a driving course; enhancing special-needs training skills; understanding legal obligations; and using humor effectively.

In addition to PTSI staff members, presenters will include Peggy Burns of Education Compliance Group, Jean Zimmerman of the School District of Palm Beach County (Fla.) and Sue Shutrump of the Trumbull County (Ohio) Educational Service Center.
