INDIANAPOLIS — Pete Baxter has joined Synovia Corp. as corporate director of business relations. Baxter comes to the company, a provider of fleet management solutions, after serving as the Indiana state pupil transportation director for 34 years.
In his role, Baxter will communicate with school superintendents, business officials, school organizations and industry associations to understand and support their evolving needs and challenges. This will provide Synovia’s customers with a forum for feedback and the company with an opportunity to help its clients run their fleets safely and efficiently.
In addition to his extensive experience in emergency preparedness programs, the evaluation of new safety features and legislation affecting school transportation, and the supervision of school bus driver certifications and safety, Baxter has served as chairperson for the Indiana State School Bus Committee and the chair of the steering committee for the 15th National Congress on School Transportation.
Moreover, Baxter has served as the president of the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services and the National Association for Pupil Transportation.
“My experience as both a regulator and service provider in the pupil transportation industry brings two somewhat contradicting but important perspectives together,” Baxter said. “Synovia is without exception a customer-driven organization that develops tools and services in direct response to customer needs. The solutions are practical and useful and ultimately designed to increase efficiency, cost savings and student safety. After 34 years in school transportation and emergency planning, I can appreciate what that means to Synovia customers.”
