ETOBICOKE, Ontario — To help celebrate its 60th anniversary this year, the Ontario School Bus Association (OSBA) has launched an awards program.
Last spring, the association asked its members for nominations for the Industry Achievement Award and the Driver Excellence Award, and it has selected nine recipients.
The Industry Achievement Award is given to an individual who has made a special contribution to the student transportation industry. The winners are Verne Kean of Scott Bus Lines, Steve Bell of Bert Bell Transportation and Wendy Dobson of Student Transportation Inc.
The Driver Excellence Award is given to a school bus driver who has demonstrated exemplary driving abilities and is committed to excellence in the areas of service and safety. The winners are Barb Powell of First Student Canada, Bob Shiell of Newry Coach Lines, Ann Moffat of Bert Bell Transportation, Jean Eileen DeBruyn of Blenheim Bus Lines, Frank Wilson of Delany Bus Lines and Cindy Newton of First Student Canada.
