LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. — Alexandra Robinson, who in October began her term as president of the National Association for Pupil Transportation, today begins a position at the New York City Department of Education (DOE).
Robinson will serve as executive director of the DOE’s Office of Pupil Transportation. In the role, she will oversee all New York City operations, borough directors and contracted routes. Robinson told SBF that she is looking forward to the work.
In accepting the East Coast-based position, Robinson returns to where she began her pupil transportation career nearly 25 years ago. As SBF reported in its recent Q&A with Robinson, she first worked as a crisis intervention specialist for an Orlando, Fla.-based school district's transportation department.
After working in several other positions in Florida, she moved to the West Coast, where she served as transportation director at San Diego City Schools and interim transportation director at Montebello (Calif.) Unified School District.
She also recently did consulting work for school districts in Washington state, Oregon, Arkansas, Texas and Ohio.
