Micro Bird earns ISO certification
The Type A school bus manufacturer’s facility in Drummondville, Quebec, now has ISO 9001:2008 certification from the International Standards Organization.
DRUMMONDVILLE, Quebec — Micro Bird’s manufacturing facility here has earned ISO 9001:2008 certification from the International Standards Organization (ISO).
Officials for the Type A school bus manufacturer said that the new ISO designation underscores Micro Bird’s commitment to safety, quality, durability and serviceability and assures that customers continue to receive the highest level of quality buses.
The achievement follows ISO certification for Blue Bird’s facility in Fort Valley, Georgia, which was awarded in 2013. (Micro Bird is a joint venture between Blue Bird and the Girardin family.)
The Micro Bird manufacturing facility extends over 165,000 square feet and employs more than 300 people.
ISO 9001:2008 is an international quality standard that uses a process approach for developing, implementing and improving the effectiveness of a quality management program for manufacturing companies. Officials said that ISO standards ensure that products are safe and reliable and exhibit good quality.
Key components of ISO 9001:2008 include customer satisfaction and establishing processes for continuous improvement. The certification also mandates periodic audits by ISO registrars to ensure that the company is in compliance with ISO 9001:2008 requirements.
“Micro Bird is proud to receive this certification as it continues to reinforce our corporate culture, which highlights quality and reputation,” said Steve Girardin, president and CEO of Micro Bird Inc. “This ISO designation strengthens Micro Bird and Blue Bird’s commitment to building innovative and quality buses that our customers value.”
