The characters in medical drama Grey’s Anatomy have dealt with myriad tragedies over the course of four seasons. Tonight’s episode brings them a new challenge: a school bus accident.
Bob Riley, executive director of the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services, provided details of the episode in an e-mail to members. He said that the show’s hospital will provide emergency services to high school students injured in a bus crash.
Since the show is set in Seattle, staff called Washington state pupil transportation director Allan Jones with questions about the state’s school buses — particularly regarding seat belts.
Jones told the staff that most small buses in the state have seat belts but most large buses don’t. However, he said that he wasn’t given a chance to provide additional information.
Riley said that he attempted to follow up with the show to give technical assistance, but he was told that production had been completed.
The show is scheduled to air tonight on ABC.
