IC Bus announces expanded 2012 training schedule

Sessions for the manufacturer's IC Bus University will be held during the weeks of June 25, July 9, July 23, Aug. 6 and Aug. 20, and will cover such topics as engines, bus electrical and bus maintenance. IC Bus is also offering an Advanced IC Bus University that will focus on advanced diagnostics.

TULSA, Okla. — IC Bus has expanded the schedule for its 2012 IC Bus University.

The new schedule is intended to better meet the needs of the school community by taking place in the summer months, according to John Thompson, director of training for IC Bus.

Classes will be offered during the weeks of June 25, July 9, July 23, Aug. 6 and Aug. 20 at the company’s bus plant in Tulsa.

Evening sessions are scheduled Monday through Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m. and will cover bus air-conditioning, Navistar parts, full power brakes and axles. Lunch sessions will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday of the week and will cover stop arms, crossing gates and bus paint.

Eight-hour classes begin on Tuesdays, and participants will cycle through three eight-hour classes on engines, bus electrical and bus maintenance. There will be a four-hour class on Friday morning of the week that will cover Allison transmissions.

As part of the expanded schedule, the company will be offering an Advanced IC Bus University this year that will focus on advanced diagnostics. These classes will be limited to eight attendees for each session and will last for three days. Officials said completion of IC Bus University will be a prerequisite for attending the Advanced IC Bus University.

A full year’s schedule will be published at a later date for the advanced classes, according to the company.

Registration for IC Bus University is accomplished online through the Navistar Learning Management System, but attendees must first obtain a voucher number through their IC Bus dealer. Cost for the class is $350, but participants in the IC Beyond program receive a 50-percent discount on the class fee.
