Under the agreement, students from Cobb County School District could be transported to and from events with Marietta City Schools students and vice versa, with each district paying the other up front for the use of their buses. The transportation director for Marietta says that when the districts have shared services in the past, it has saved $100 to $500 depending on the trip.
MARIETTA, Ga. — Two local school districts are planning to share school buses for field trips in an effort to save money and operate more efficiently, The Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Under the agreement, students from Cobb County School District could be transported to and from events with Marietta City Schools students and vice versa, with each district paying the other up front for the use of their buses.
The districts had been sharing bus services for years, but infrequently, and transportation officials decided it would save time to create a basic agreement on sharing transportation. Mark Lindstrom, director at Marietta City Schools, told the news outlet that each time the districts unite to transport students, it saves between $100 and $500 depending on the trip.
