EUGENE, Ore. — Lane Transit District (LTD) is providing free bus passes to students in grades 6 to 12 for the month of September only following the loss of state funding for the Student Transit Pass Program, which allowed those students to ride the bus at no cost.
Beginning Oct. 1, students may pay cash to ride LTD buses, or purchase a $24 monthly youth pass or a $65 three-month pass.
Some public high schools will sell LTD passes for student convenience, and a few private and charter schools are purchasing the LTD Group Pass Program to allow their students in grades 6 to 12 to ride free during the school year.
