Former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot to speak at NAPT
Captain (Ret.) Scott O’Grady will present a keynote speech, sponsored by HSM Transportation Solutions, on Veteran’s Day (Nov. 11). He will share his experience in Bosnia and discuss how preparation, teamwork and leadership are keys to professional survival.
Captain (Ret.) Scott O’Grady, a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, will present a keynote speech to help the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) honor the nation's heroes on Veteran’s Day (Nov. 11).
NAPT welcomed members in an announcement to hear O'Grady's “exciting and inspiring story and learn why preparation, teamwork and leadership are keys to professional survival.” The Summit will be held Nov. 8-11 in Kansas City, Mo.
O'Grady was helping enforce the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) no-fly zone policy in the skies over Bosnia when a Soviet-made anti-aircraft missile slammed into his F-16, according to the NAPT announcement.
O’Grady shares how he survived in hostile territory for six days before being rescued by the U.S. Marines in his book, "Return With Honor," which spent six weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list. He has also published "Basher Five-Two," a children’s edition of his original story.
In addition, O'Grady's story has been documented on the Discovery Channel presentation "Behind Enemy Lines" and has been featured on CNN’s "Voices of the Millennium, a Then and Now" series that focuses on the most influential personalities of the 20th century.
The speech is sponsored by HSM Transportation Solutions.
