Former director pleads guilty to records tampering
Douglas Wessling will reportedly receive two years of probation and an order to pay a $1,000 fine for the crime, which is an aggravated misdemeanor. HOLSTEIN, Iowa — A former Iowa transportation director has pled guilty to tampering with bus records, the Associated Press (AP) reports.
Fifty-two-year-old Douglas Wessling will reportedly receive two years of probation and an order to pay a $1,000 fine.
As SBFreported last fall, Wessling resigned as the transportation director of Galva-Holstein Community School District after state inspectors were notified by a driver at the district that at least one bus was still being used, even though a service door with broken glass, which had been cited in a state inspection, had gone unrepaired past the 30 days granted by the state.
Upon further inspection, state officials found two other buses that had issues that had not been repaired, despite Wessling notifying the state otherwise. He was arrested at that time on three counts of tampering with records, which is an aggravated misdemeanor.
