The First Student team in Wichita, Kansas, held a surprise school bus parade to lift the spirits of one of their fellow drivers who is currently battling cancer, KWCH reports.
Bryant Wesley, an 18-year driver for Wichita Public Schools, received an outpour of support on the morning of March 11 after his fellow drivers organized a school bus parade to encourage him in his fight against stage 4 pancreatic cancer, according to the news source. Wesley, who received his diagnosis in November, told KWCH that he was surprised to see such a beautiful sight of school buses driving by.
Kary Dixon, the senior location manager for First Student’s Wichita team, told the news source that he was glad the team could do something special for Wesley, who he considered a “remarkable employee and remarkable human being.” Wesley’s sister, Sheryl, added that she was touched by the reminder of how her brother is loved and appreciated, “not only by his family, but by people that he works with.”
