A recent post by a writer for the EPA's blog Greenversations is touting the role of school buses in American education and their environmental benefits.
In “Take the Bus — Save the Planet!” Christine Koester, environmental protection specialist in the EPA's Office of Transportation and Air Quality, writes, “Whether you wait at the stop each morning with your children or you have memories of frantic dashes down the sidewalk to catch it, the school bus has been a big part of American education for generations.” She also writes that in the U.S., school buses use 2.3 billion gallons less fuel every year than if people drove their children to school.
