WARRENVILLE, Ill. — Beginning in August, Durham School Services will serve two new school districts: one in Wisconsin, and one in Illinois.

The school bus contractor was recently awarded a three‐year contract by the School District of Beloit (Wis.). Durham will operate daily routes with a fleet of 33 buses, including 30 new buses that have low carbon emissions and high fuel efficiency ratings, officials said.

In addition, every bus will feature digital video cameras to help in managing student behavior. They will also feature the latest in GPS technology to provide real‐time data from the road and to help manage fuel consumption.

"The School District of Beloit is excited to partner with Durham School Services to meet the needs of our students,” said Janelle Marotz, executive director of business services. “Durham is known for superior performance in the transportation industry, and we look forward to their dedication to quality service. In partnership, our goal is to implement strategies to maximize school resources with a customer‐centered focus."

Durham has also been awarded a three‐year contract with Red Bud (Ill.) Community School Unit #132. Durham will operate daily routes with 23 buses, which will be equipped with digital video cameras and advanced GPS technology.

“Durham was the low bidder and also comes in with a strong safety record, so both of those factors were very important to us,” Superintendent Jonathan Tallman said. “We’re confident our student transportation is in good hands with Durham as we move forward.”

Officials added that both school districts will benefit from computerized routing software that maximizes the use of each bus.
