DANSVILLE, N.Y. — The local school district here is taking steps to increase the safety of its bus loop as part of an 11-step transportation revitalization plan, Genesee County Express reports.

An independent safety study was conducted by the Pupil Transportation Safety Institute earlier this year for Dansville Central School District. The first objective of the plan is to complete a 19-A driver file reorganization, which has begun, and the first phase of the bus loop enhancement project is expected to be complete before the start of the upcoming school year.

As part of the project, a fence will be built at the edge of the parking lot facing the bus loop, and the loop will be off-limits to vehicular traffic during school hours. Personal vehicles will enter directly into the parking lot to drop off students in designated areas next to the fence, and new pedestrian crossing areas will be installed in several areas with new striping.
