ARONEY, Ala. — DeKalb County Schools bus driver Jeremy Moses went above and beyond the call of duty earlier this month, rescuing a woman from a burning house.

The Fort Payne Times-Journalreports that Moses was transporting students on a morning route when he passed by the house and saw a woman outside screaming for help and saying that another woman was trapped inside.

Debra Hall, assistant principal at Crossville School (which Moses serves), told the newspaper that after securing his bus on the side of the road and assigning two older students to watch the younger kids, Moses helped the trapped woman through a window on the side of the house just as the roof began to collapse.

Moses then ensured that both women were safe before continuing his route.

Hall reportedly sent a letter to the DeKalb County Board of Education requesting that Moses and eighth-grader Timothy Kerr receive recognition for their actions. (Kerr attempted to save a dog that was trapped in the house.)
