Bus driver retires after 43 years on the road
Doris Hudson opts to end her career with Greenfield (Ill.) Community Unit School District #10, which began in 1969. Students and staff honor her during a celebration hosted by the superintendent, who rode on Hudson's bus as a child.
GREENFIELD, Ill. — A school bus driver for Greenfield Community Unit School District #10 will retire at the end of the school year after 43 years of driving students to and from Greenfield Elementary, KSDK reports.
Doris Hudson was hired by the district in 1969 and has driven her bus about 9,000 miles a year. Greenfield Elementary students and staff honored Hudson at a celebration in the school gymnasium hosted by Superintendent Kevin Bowman, who rode on Hudson’s bus in first grade.
Hudson told the news source that the students on her bus have become her family.
