Bus driver faces record number of charges for DUI
Carole Crockett faces 25 counts each of driving under the influence with a minor, endangering the welfare of a child, driving under the influence on school property and disorderly conduct after she swerves her school bus in traffic and dozes off behind the wheel. Authorities determine that Crockett has a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit.
WESTAMPTON, N.J. — A school bus driver was arrested and charged with 25 counts of driving under the influence with a minor after police said she was operating her bus while drunk, PIX11 reports.
According to authorities, Carole Crockett was driving children to school last week when she began swerving in traffic and dozing off. Students on the bus used their cell phones to contact parents, who then alerted officials at Westampton Middle School. School officials contacted police.
A breathalyzer determined Crockett's blood-alcohol level at the time was 0.25 percent — more than three times the legal limit. In addition to the DUI charges, she faces 25 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, as well as 25 counts of driving under the influence on school property and disorderly conduct.
