Bus driver charged following alleged road rage

Linda Barreto was pulled over while transporting students after 911 callers reported a bus cutting them off in a reckless manner and also hitting the brakes. She was arrested and charged with child abuse and possession of dangerous drugs.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A school bus driver was arrested and charged earlier this week after an alleged road rage incident, KOAT reports.

Bus driver Linda Barreto was pulled over on Monday afternoon after 911 callers reported a bus driving erratically. Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office spokesman Aaron Williamson told the news outlet that callers stated that the bus driver cut them off in a reckless or erratic manner and was also hitting the brakes. (Barreto was also found in possession of pills for which she didn’t have a prescription.)

There were children on the bus at the time of the incident, but none was injured. Barreto was charged with child abuse and possession of dangerous drugs.

Meanwhile, KRQE News 13reported on Wednesday that Barreto was still in jail, and she has been fired from Herrera School Buses and Coaches Inc. Her supervisor, Michael Herrera, told the news outlet that equipping school buses with cameras could help to prevent these types of incidents.
