A Mason (Ohio) City Schools Early Childhood Center kindergarten student recently experienced his first trip to a farm, thanks to his compassionate bus driver.
When driver Lisa Teepen learned that a student on her bus route, Juan Gonzalas, had missed a kindergarten field trip to a farm, she took action. With the permission of Juan's family and the school administration, Teepen arranged for him to join another kindergarten class's trip to the farm. Coincidentally, Teepen was scheduled to drive that group to their field trip the following day and wanted to be sure Juan did not miss out on the experience.
"The relationship that Lisa has with the students that ride on her bus is heartfelt and admirable, and she knows each child by name," said Lori Miller, Juan's teacher. "I cannot thank her enough for going above and beyond for a kindergarten student who will never forget this special day. In Juan's words, 'I love my Mrs. Lisa!'"
