Student stops runaway school bus
CLEVELAND — When his school bus began to roll away from a gas station, 11-year-old David Murphy grabbed the steering wheel and guided the bus into a bridge’s concrete support pillar, bringing the vehicle to a stop before potentially colliding with a semi-trailer, according to this report. However, another media outlet reported that, according to the company that allegedly owns the bus, other passengers claimed that the 11-year-old had actually caused the bus to begin rolling by releasing the emergency brake.
School to reimburse drivers’ fuel costs
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — School bus drivers for Rutherford County Schools are independent contractors and pay for their own fuel, which is averaging close to $4 a gallon.
