Blue Bird Lays Off More Than 100 Workers in Georgia
Company officials say supply chain disruptions, which they've also given as a cause for recent price increases, motivated the reduction of the workforce in Fort Valley.

The layoffs affect less than about 6% of Blue Bird's total work force, according to company officials.

Blue Bird Corporation this week laid off 115 production workers in its Fort Valley, Ga., manufacturing facility.
Company officials cited supply chain disruptions exacerbated by the lingering COVID-19 pandemic and Russia's war in Ukraine for the workforce reduction, which was implemented with "immediate effect," according to Blue Bird spokesperson Julianne Barclay. The layoffs amount to less than about 6% of the company's total workforce.
"Blue Bird does not anticipate any additional workforce reductions at this time," Barclay said. "Affected production workers could be eligible for rehire once the economic conditions improve."
The layoffs come within days after Blue Bird raised prices on all models of school buses and unveiled a prototype for its new electric-powered chassis for use with delivery vehicles and motor homes.
