Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto tells MLB Network that he plans to retire when he is about 40 years old, and would like to drive a school bus or be a crossing guard.
CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto has a unique plan for retirement: he would like to be a school bus driver, he tells MLB Network.
Votto said in an interview with the news source that he “legitimately would like to drive a yellow bus when I am older” and that he would either like to be a crossing guard or drive a school bus. He added that he plans to retire when he is about 40 years old (Votto turns 35 in September, according to Dayton Daily News), and “then from 40 to however long I live, I’ll drive that yellow bus.”
The majority of the interview with Votto focused on his appearance on a Ted Williams documentary.
