ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A woman tried to abduct a student at a school bus stop here on Thursday, police said.
According to a media advisory from the St. Louis County Police Department, the incident occurred at about 7 a.m. on Thursday in the southern precinct of the county. An 11-year-old girl was waiting for a school bus when a vehicle pulled up and a woman exited and approached the girl.
The St. Louis County Police Department said that the woman attempted to talk with the girl, but the girl did not engage in conversation. According to police, the woman became upset and began to yell at the girl to get into her vehicle, but the girl refused.
Police said that witnesses walking in the area appeared to take notice of the woman, who then got back in the vehicle and fled the scene.
The St. Louis County Police Department described the suspect as a white female in her 20s, with long, blonde hair that has a pink stripe in it. Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call (636) 529-8210 to speak with investigators.
Police also advised the public to be prepared to respond to and report abduction attempts.
“Please be vigilant in reporting suspicious persons and activity, while also instructing children how to be proactive if confronted by a possible abductor,” the St. Louis County Police Department said.
