Three people were reportedly in critical condition on Wednesday morning after a crash between a school bus and a tree service truck in New Windsor, N.Y., officials said.

The Washingtonville Central School District stated on its website on Wednesday eight students were traveling to Little Britain Elementary School when their bus was involved in the collision.

At approximately 8:21 a.m., police found that a tree service truck was heading west on Route 207 and reportedly crossed over the double yellow line, striking the district’s school bus, which was traveling east on the same roadway, according to a news release from the Town of New Windsor Police Department.

The three people who were critically injured — the driver of the tree service truck, the school bus driver, and a student who was sitting behind the bus driver — were extricated from the vehicles and taken to the hospital. The two drivers are in critical condition and the student is in critical but stable condition, according to the police department, which did not release the names of those who were injured. (WABC identified the bus driver as Andrew Sanchez, 74, and the tree service truck driver as Ian Jennings, 25.)

Seven students walked off the bus and were brought to the hospital to be examined by medical professionals, and have been treated and released, police said.

WABC reports that a third vehicle was also involved in the collision.

The accident is still under investigation, according to police.
