1 injured as school bus slides off road, rolls twice
Oregon police say that the driver lost control of the small bus, and it went off an embankment. The bus was carrying six ski team members, one of whom was injured.
Police said that after this small bus went off an embankment, it rolled twice and then came to rest against trees about 50 feet from the road.
BEND, Ore. — A school bus carrying a ski team slid off of a road and rolled over on Saturday morning.
According to Oregon State Police, the driver lost control of the small bus, which then slid through the opposite lane and went off an embankment. The bus rolled twice in the snow and then came to rest against trees about 50 feet from the road.
Oregon State Police troopers, assisted by the U.S. Forest Service and the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, responded to the crash.
The school bus was carrying six students, who are members of a cross-country ski team. One sustained a minor injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police said that information on the bus occupants' seat belt use was not immediately available.
The bus was traveling from Prineville, Oregon, taking the ski team to the Mount Bachelor area. The crash occurred west of Bend.
