Transportation secretary: Distracted driving study is ‘misleading’

U.S. DOT chief Ray LaHood is referring to a report released on Tuesday by the Highway Loss Data Institute that questions the effectiveness of anti-texting while driving laws to improve traffic safety. LaHood said that the report fails to reconcile with previous research supported by the institute that shows that drivers are four times as likely to crash if using a hand-held device while driving.

Bus driver faces felony charge for alleged DUI

Police pulled over Timothy Radliff last week after a motorist reported that he was driving his bus erratically while four children were on board. Authorities say that Radliff told them he had taken prescription painkillers, but the man’s attorney said he does not believe that he was under the influence while on the job.
