PORTLAND, Ore. — The National Association for Pupil Transportation's (NAPT) two-day trade show kicked off on Tuesday afternoon with more than 120 exhibits from school bus manufacturers and industry suppliers.

Many companies had new products on view, including Sound-Off Signal. The company has a new spotlight that illuminates the danger zone when bus doors are activated. Mounted at the rear corner of the roof, the bright white light provides drivers with better visibility within a 15- to 20-foot radius.

Among the providers of digital video recording systems, Safety Vision is offering a new solution called the RouteRecorder 4C SD. Safety Vision officials said that this system records up to four video and four audio channels, and it records video on high-capacity Secure Digital cards. The RouteRecorder 4C SD system is compatible with Safety Vision's SafetyView 3.1 viewing software, which was also on display.

Zonar Systems is in the process of rolling out a software system component called ZScore. The system tracks driver, fleet and inspection efficiency, allowing users to measure their departments' scores against industry averages. Zonar representatives on hand compared the rating to a credit score. Features include the ability to track idling times, pre- and post-trip inspection times and driving speeds.

At Donaldson Co. Inc.'s booth, company officials discussed the LNF and LXF mufflers, which help to eliminate particulate matter and gaseous emissions from diesel exhaust. They also use exhaust heat to burn particulate matter in diesel particulate filters. The LNF muffler is designed for high nitrogen oxide engines and the LXF is desgined for low nitrogen oxide engines. Both mufflers are designed for select EGR and non-EGR on-road engine applications.
