HIGH POINT, N.C. — What became the newest member of Durham School Services’ fleet was also the newest conventional from Thomas Built Buses.
In a ceremony at the bus company’s new manufacturing plant, Thomas President and CEO John O’Leary handed over the keys to the first customer-ready Saf-T-Liner C2 to John Elliott, Durham’s president and CEO.
The C2 made its first appearance to the school bus industry at last year’s National Association for Pupil Transportation trade show in Salt Lake City. Thomas opened the 275,000-square-foot facility and began customer unit production this summer.
Thomas C2 plant employees and representatives from Durham signed the milestone bus’ hood, which will be permanently displayed in the facility.
Durham was ranked as the third largest private school bus operator in the nation in SCHOOL BUS FLEET’s 2004 Top 50 Contractor Fleets poll.
