Alternator facilitates fuel savings, enhances battery life
The 28SI, a high output alternator for school buses and other vehicles that have large electrical loads, has an efficient and lightweight design to improve fuel economy. The alternator features 180 and 200 amp options with three mounting styles and dual internal fans to protect it from high under-hood engine temperatures. Its Remote Sense technology provides accurate voltage readings and improves battery life by optimizing battery state-of- charge.

Turn arrow maximizes LED power for enhanced visibility
The 7-inch Rear Turn Arrow utilizes advanced internal and external optics that disperse a wide angle of light, maximizing LED power for improved visibility when a vehicle is turning. The light features Gen 2 amber LEDs in a surface-mount design with metal inserts to prevent housing cracking during installation, and to prevent wire corrosion. An extended polycarbonate lens increases off-angle visibility.

Device monitors vehicle battery charge
The Heavy-Duty Battery Brain, an electronic controller for truck and bus batteries, is available for 12- and 24- volt systems. It provides a warning when batteries are reaching the end of their life cycle and disconnects batteries to preserve their power when they are losing the charge necessary to start the vehicle’s engine.

Metal restoration product improves engine performance
CerMet is a ceramic conditioner. When added to engine oil, the product’s ceramic nano-particles are transported to friction zones and bond to metal surfaces. The surfaces are transformed into ceramic-metal structures, thereby reducing roughness and metal-to-metal friction. Treatment with CerMet has been shown to improve engine performance and fuel economy.

Software tracks buses, pinpoints location
VMax with Tracking displays a bus’ location on a map, including the street name and time. Adjustable zoom levels enhance navigation, and the software can be configured to show a line that traces the vehicle’s path. Maps are displayed on a screen separate from the multiple-view camera channel window (pictured). Incidents on buses can also be viewed using video footage synchronized with the mapping software.
