ALBANY, N.Y. — The NAPT has developed a cutting-edge outlet for sharing information with its members: a video blog.
Along the lines of a “traditional” text-based blog, NAPT Executive Director Mike Martin will impart news, commentary and philosophical musings on a variety of issues — not all of which will be directly related to pupil transportation. The technological twist is that Martin will do his blogging out loud and in front of a video camera and post the episodes on the NAPT Website.
In the first episode of NAPTV, as the video blog has been dubbed, Martin introduced a few key segments of the program. One is the “Question of the Day,” which in this episode was, “What program materials and/or curriculum do you use for security training?”
NAPTV viewers can log onto the association’s newly launched forum (http://napt.org/forum.cfm) to answer the question and to discuss the episode in general.
To reward viewers, the episode also included “shout-outs” to two NAPT members, who could call the association’s headquarters before the next episode to claim a prize — either a coffee mug or a hat.
Martin and crew set an energetic pace and lively tone for NAPTV, incorporating a few sight gags and sound effects. In the background, a tennis racket and a basketball hoop adorned the wall.
