An online job board for the school bus, motorcoach and transit industries has been launched at www.TransitTalent.com.
The start-up company is headed by Steve Hirano, former editor and associate publisher of SCHOOL BUS FLEET and METRO Magazine.
Hirano said that his site provides employers with an alternative to larger, generic job boards like Monster and CareerBuilder.
“School transportation employers are spending big bucks to post job listings on those boards,” Hirano said. “The question is whether they’re getting a good return on their investment.”
Hirano said TransitTalent.com’s niche-defined approach should help to provide employers with candidates who already have experience or at least strong interest in public transportation. “That should help to weed out the candidates who are blindly sending in resumes for positions they’re not qualified for,” he said.
