Youths free student pinned between buses
STURBRIDGE, Mass. — Fifteen middle school students moved a bus enough to free a classmate pinned between it and another bus. According to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, a 14-year-old became trapped during a field trip when another student accidentally released the bus’ brake. Police said a chaperone told a student to enter the bus through a rear door to open the passenger door, but the student hit the button to release the air brake.
Virginia bus drivers train for security watch
FAIRFAX, Va. — More than 1,600 school bus drivers underwent training for recognizing potential security threats. As part of the American Trucking Association’s Highway Watch program, drivers for Fairfax County Public Schools completed two-hour sessions during an in-service training day. The sessions covered how to identify and report suspicious activity, with the goal of preventing terrorist attacks.
